Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake

Strawberry Milkshake

When someone asks about your preferred cheesecake variety, you might find yourself hesitating since there are countless unique flavors available. But considering just the classic options, which one captures your heart? Personally, I’ve always gravitated toward rich chocolate cheesecake, which aligns perfectly with my lifelong passion for all things chocolate.

However, my closest friend has an absolute infatuation with strawberry cheesecake. She nearly jumped for joy when she discovered my Overnight Strawberry Cheesecake Parfait recipe, but unfortunately, the dessert disappeared before she could sample it (I’m still investigating how that happened!). To make amends, I decided to channel my creativity into crafting her a strawberry cheesecake-inspired milkshake instead!

Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake Magic

Do YOU have a fondness for strawberry cheesecake? If so, this Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake provides the perfect avenue to satisfy those cheesecake cravings with somewhat less guilt attached.

The beauty lies in its simplicity. You’ll need just three essential ingredients: premium vanilla ice cream, graham crackers, and actual cheesecake. Yes, you read correctly—this extraordinary beverage contains pieces of real cheesecake!

How to Create a Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake

Strawberry Milkshake

As mentioned earlier, this milkshake derives its distinctive cheesecake essence from genuine cheesecake rather than plain cream cheese. I purchased a small 6-inch cheesecake from my local bakery and incorporated approximately half of it into this milkshake creation.

The bakery offered numerous flavor options, so naturally, I selected the strawberry swirl variety! Simply add it to your blender alongside your preferred brand of vanilla ice cream and a handful of graham cracker crumbs.

I must confess a small oversight on my part—I didn’t initially realize that adding separate graham cracker crumbs wasn’t strictly necessary since the cheesecake already contained a graham cracker crust! So if you’re using actual cheesecake in your milkshake, you can certainly skip the additional graham cracker crumbs. Unless, of course, you’re particularly fond of that graham flavor, in which case, add to your heart’s content!

Elevating Your Milkshake Presentation

I’m absolutely passionate about decorating milkshake glasses to create visual impact. The thought of pouring a milkshake into an unadorned glass seems like a missed opportunity for creativity. Every great milkshake deserves an elegant interior drizzle! For this particular creation, I prepared a batch of my signature Fresh Strawberry Sauce and allowed it to cool completely before artfully drizzling it inside the glass. You might notice the rim decoration—that represents my humble attempt at creating a graham cracker garnish (which admittedly could use some refinement).

My chosen cheesecake featured strawberry swirls, but I intentionally wanted to maintain its predominantly white color to create a stunning contrast against the vibrant red sauce. This decision stemmed purely from my food photographer’s instinct planning the visual aesthetic of the milkshake. If you’re making this at home and cannot locate strawberry swirl cheesecake at your neighborhood grocery store, feel free to substitute plain cheesecake or cream cheese and incorporate some fresh strawberry sauce into the mixture!

Cream Cheese Whipped Cream Perfection

Crowning this magnificent milkshake is my absolute favorite cream cheese whipped cream! This delightful topping first appeared garnishing my renowned Mini Pumpkin Cheesecake Bites, and now it returns to enhance another delicious creation.

Finish with a sprinkle of additional graham cracker crumbs, a spoonful of strawberry sauce, and a fresh strawberry for garnish. And don’t forget the decorative paper straw—no properly presented milkshake is complete without one!

Ingredients

Optional Glass Decoration: 1 recipe of my Fresh Strawberry Sauce

Cheesecake Milkshake: 4 cups (8 scoops) vanilla ice cream, slightly softened ½ of a (6-inch) store-bought cheesecake, cut into chunks (I used strawberry swirl) [see notes] ¼ cup graham cracker crumbs* (see notes)

Cream Cheese Whipped Cream: 4 oz. cream cheese, softened to room temperature ¾ cup heavy whipping cream, chilled 5 Tbsp. powdered sugar 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Topping: Crushed graham cracker crumbs Fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare one batch of my Fresh Strawberry Sauce and allow it to cool completely. This step is optional, though highly recommended if you want to enhance the strawberry flavor profile of your milkshake.
  2. For the Cheesecake Milkshake: Add softened ice cream, cheesecake pieces [see notes] and graham cracker crumbs to a high-powered blender. Process until smooth and well-combined. For additional strawberry flavor, you may incorporate ¼ cup of the cooled strawberry sauce if desired.
  3. For the Glass Decoration: Using the back of a spoon, artfully drizzle some of the strawberry sauce along the inside walls of each serving glass.
  4. Pour the milkshake mixture into the prepared glasses and top with cream cheese whipped cream (recipe follows), an extra drizzle of strawberry sauce, a sprinkle of graham cracker crumbs, and a fresh strawberry. Serve immediately and enjoy!
  5. For the Cream Cheese Whipped Cream: In a medium stainless steel bowl, using a handheld mixer, whip the softened cream cheese on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Gradually add the chilled cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Continue whipping on medium-high speed until the cream holds firm peaks, approximately 3-4 minutes. Transfer to a piping bag fitted with your favorite decorative tip and pipe onto the milkshakes.

Notes

  • I used a strawberry swirl cheesecake. If this specific variety isn’t available in your area, feel free to add ¼ cup of the cooled strawberry sauce to the milkshake for a similar flavor profile!
  • If pre-made cheesecake isn’t readily available at your local grocery store, you can substitute with 4 ounces of softened cream cheese, cut into small pieces.
  • When using actual cheesecake in your milkshake, the additional graham cracker crumbs become optional since the cheesecake crust already contains graham crackers.
