Oreo Trifle recipe

M&M’s Oreo Trifle

  • Author: Madilyn

Description

A stunning no-bake dessert that layers crushed Oreos, chocolate pudding, fluffy whipped cream, and colorful M&M’s candies for a treat that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Layers:

  • 1 pack (14 oz) Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 1 cup M&M’s (any variety)
  • 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 box (3.4 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk

For Garnish:

  • Extra crushed Oreos
  • Extra M&M’s
  • Chocolate syrup drizzle (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Cream Layers:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk the chocolate pudding mix with cold milk until well combined. Refrigerate for about 5 minutes until thickened.
  • In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  • Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the pudding mixture to create a lighter, mousse-like texture. Set aside both the pudding mixture and the remaining whipped cream.

2. Crush the Cookies:

  • Place Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until coarsely crushed, or place in a ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin. Leave some larger pieces for texture.

3. Assemble the Trifle:

  • Start with a layer of crushed Oreos at the bottom of a trifle dish or individual serving cups.
  • Add a layer of the pudding mixture, followed by a layer of plain whipped cream.
  • Sprinkle a generous handful of M&M’s over the whipped cream.
  • Repeat the layers (Oreos, pudding mixture, whipped cream, M&M’s) until all ingredients are used, ideally finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.

4. Garnish and Chill:

  • Top the final layer with additional crushed Oreos and M&M’s.
  • If desired, drizzle with chocolate syrup for an extra decadent touch.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving, though 4-6 hours is ideal for the best flavor development.

Notes

  • For the best texture, use very cold heavy cream and milk.
  • The trifle can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • For a more sophisticated presentation, create individual servings in clear glasses or mason jars.
  • Seasonal M&M’s colors can theme this dessert for holidays or special occasions.
  • Leftover trifle will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, though the texture will continue to soften over time.
