Description
A stunning no-bake dessert that layers crushed Oreos, chocolate pudding, fluffy whipped cream, and colorful M&M’s candies for a treat that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Layers:
- 1 pack (14 oz) Oreo cookies, crushed
- 1 cup M&M’s (any variety)
- 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 box (3.4 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
For Garnish:
- Extra crushed Oreos
- Extra M&M’s
- Chocolate syrup drizzle (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Cream Layers:
- In a medium bowl, whisk the chocolate pudding mix with cold milk until well combined. Refrigerate for about 5 minutes until thickened.
- In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the pudding mixture to create a lighter, mousse-like texture. Set aside both the pudding mixture and the remaining whipped cream.
2. Crush the Cookies:
- Place Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until coarsely crushed, or place in a ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin. Leave some larger pieces for texture.
3. Assemble the Trifle:
- Start with a layer of crushed Oreos at the bottom of a trifle dish or individual serving cups.
- Add a layer of the pudding mixture, followed by a layer of plain whipped cream.
- Sprinkle a generous handful of M&M’s over the whipped cream.
- Repeat the layers (Oreos, pudding mixture, whipped cream, M&M’s) until all ingredients are used, ideally finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
4. Garnish and Chill:
- Top the final layer with additional crushed Oreos and M&M’s.
- If desired, drizzle with chocolate syrup for an extra decadent touch.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving, though 4-6 hours is ideal for the best flavor development.
Notes
- For the best texture, use very cold heavy cream and milk.
- The trifle can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- For a more sophisticated presentation, create individual servings in clear glasses or mason jars.
- Seasonal M&M’s colors can theme this dessert for holidays or special occasions.
- Leftover trifle will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, though the texture will continue to soften over time.
