Description
These Mini Cinnamon Rolls are soft, fluffy, and filled with buttery cinnamon sugar. Perfect for a cozy breakfast, brunch, or sweet snack, and topped with a simple vanilla glaze.
Ingredients
🔸 For the dough:
250 g all-purpose flour
1 packet (7 g) active dry yeast
120 ml warm milk
40 g sugar
1 egg
40 g soft butter
1 pinch of salt
🔸 For the filling:
50 g soft butter
60 g brown sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
🔸 For the glaze (optional):
60 g powdered sugar
1 tbsp milk (or more depending on texture)
A few drops of vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tsp of sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, egg, and the milk-yeast mixture.
- Knead for 5 to 10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth.
- Add the soft butter and knead for another 5 minutes until soft and no longer sticky.
- Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (about 25 x 35 cm).
- Spread soft butter evenly on top.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the buttered dough.
- Roll tightly from the long side into a log.
- Cut into mini rolls, about 2–3 cm thick, yielding 15–20 rolls
- Place rolls in a greased dish or on parchment-lined tray with space in between.
- Cover and let rise again for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
You can make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate overnight before the second rise.
Swap brown sugar with coconut sugar for a deeper flavor.
Use cream cheese frosting for a richer topping.
